Wyatt Russell — son of Hollywood A-listers Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell — currently stars in the Disney+ Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He portrays the new Captain America, and he lacks in all the qualities that made the former shield wielder the hero he was. Acting in a morally questionable (if not bankrupt) manner, the new Cap puts his self-interests first. He may be a former war hero, but a superhero he is not. Yet, before TFATWS, what was Russell in? What is the actor best known for (other than being the product of two supremely talented individuals)?
Russell appeared in ‘Overlord,’ ‘Lodge 49,’ ’22 Jump Street,’ and more
Before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier fell in his lap, Russell appeared in a handful of TV shows and played a couple of supporting characters in various well-known movies. He starred opposite Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in the 22 Jump Street remake as Zook — a football jock with epic comedic timing skills.
Russell also starred in 2017’s Ingrid Goes West as Ezra O’Keefe — a painter and the husband to Elizabeth Olsen’s leading character, Taylor Sloane. Russell also starred in the movie Overlord as Ford.
Recently, Russell took on a leading role in the short-lived TV series Lodge 49, which ran from 2018 to 2019. He portrayed Sean “Dud” Dudley in the comedic drama about Dud, a man who finds himself at the doorstep of Lodge 49 — a fraternal order offering cheap beer and alchemical philosophies.
Russell also appeared in the 2020 mini-series The Good Lord Bird as J.E.B. Stuart. He appears in three episodes of the seven-episode series based on the novel of the same name starring Ethan Hawke as abolitionist John Brown in the mid-1800s. Stuart was a US Army Officer who became a Confederate States Army general during the Civil War.
Russell is set to star opposite Amy Adams in the upcoming movie ‘The Woman in the Window’
The Woman in the Window — coming to Netflix on May 14 — is a dramatic mystery starring Amy Adams as Anna Fox, an agoraphobic woman living alone in New York City. When she witnesses a disturbing act of violence at her new neighbor’s home through her window, she must leave her apartment.
Russell will play David in the movie — Anna’s tenant. In the trailer, he seems to be someone who both resorts to violence and keeps an eye on Anna. He assists Anna with errands and occasionally with house repairs in the novel. The Netflix original also stars Gary Oldman and Julianne Moore.
