WHAT can't you miss on TV tonight? Our guide to the must-see shows…
NEW! NW, 9pm, BBC Two
Nikki Amuka-Bird (Luther’s no-nonsense DC Erin Gray) and Phoebe Fox are best friends Natalie and Leah, who have grown up together in north-west London but whose lives are going in completely different directions.
Both suffering with their own personal identity crisis, their secrets and double lives threaten to derail their outwardly perfect worlds in this grimy and gritty adaptation of Zadie Smith’s bestselling 2012 book.
Filmed around north-west London and with supporting artists from the area, NW offers a real insight into the diverse and vibrant community and, despite the one-off drama’s depressing themes, the surprising and unforeseen twists make it utterly compelling and one of those shows that will stay with you for some time.
A worthy watch before the glut of cheery Christmas TV arrives.
