Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) is forced to make a confession after receiving more bad news from the hospital in EastEnders.

The beloved character discovered that she was pregnant last year, following a one night stand with Zack Hudson (James Farrar).

Since then she has received the bad news that her baby may have Omphalocele; a birth defect that effects that abdominal wall.

In upcoming episodes, Whitney will receive further bad news when she is told that the test results have been delayed for a further two weeks.

Heartbroken and scared, she turns to older brother and returning Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott) for support.

During their phone call, she is overcome by her emotions and ends up confessing that Lily Slater (Lillia Turner), Ryan’s daughter, is pregnant.

Discussing Ryan’s reunion with Whitney, Neil McDermott shared: ‘When he first arrives to the Square, he obviously knows Whitney is pregnant but he doesn’t know the full situation, but soon learns that during the episode.

‘Ryan has always tried to be there for her – obviously when I was here but even in episodes towards the end of my time at EastEnders were about Ryan comforting Whitney and assuring her he’s only a phone call away.

‘They have a really good sibling relationship, although he messes it up sometimes and she does too, there’s a lot of love between them but there’s some things that get in the way sometimes.

12-year-old Lily’s pregnancy was revealed in shocking scenes over the New Year, and it wasn’t long before it was revealed that Ricky Jnr (Frankie Day) is the father.

Since making the discovery, Whitney has become a supportive figure in Lily’s life, due to them both being pregnant at the same time.

However, how will Lily react when she finds out that her dad knows her secret?

Meanwhile, show boss Chris Clenshaw has been speaking about the show’s storyline around Edward’s Syndrome.
