Today (Wednesday, April 7) on This Morning, Eamonn Holmes had some happy news to share with the nation.  Eamonn, 61, announced he is going to be a grandfather after his son Declan and his wife Jenny were having a baby and viewers want to everything. Who is Eamonn Holmes’ son? Who is Declan Holmes?

Declan Holmes is Eamonn Holmes eldest son and the brother of Niall Holmes, Rebecca Holmes and Jack Holmes.

He is Eamonn’s eldest child from his first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes, which ended in 1995 following the birth of two other children; Rebecca and Niall.

Declan married his wife, Jenny Gouk  in a beautiful ceremony at Castle Leslie Estate in Ireland in August 2018 

Declan, 32, is a successful entrepreneur and is the owner and founder of Belfast Night Cap, a drinks led hospitality company. 

Eamonn shared the happy news at 11am this morning, standing alongside his wife Ruth.

He said: “Now folks there is something I want to talk to you about today. It has been a tough year for everybody – and it has been a tough week for me.

“I do not like complaining but I have been in a lot of pain.

“It has not been a good time and I have been in tears. And I have been in tears again here.

“Declan, my eldest boy, and Jenny, his partner, have announced that I will be a grandparent.

Eamonn’s wife and co-host Ruth Langsford, who is Declan’s step-mother, added: “Declan and Jenny – we’re so, so happy for you. Lots of love to you.

“They’re going to be the most wonderful parents.”

Eamonn shared with viewers was got emotional when he was told the wonderful news, joking: ” I didn’t think I would be so happy, but when they told me the news I got very emotional about it.

“I just thought, ‘Me? I’m so young and vibrant. What lovely news, regeneration. The old guard goes out, the new guard comes in.

“Declan is the same age that I was when I, well, your mummy, had you. Jenny – we wish you well.”

He added: ” Please, no obligation to call the child Eamonn.

“We don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, we just want you to be healthy and happy. Thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness into our lives.

Declan and Jenny’s baby is due in July 2021. Express.co.uk will update this article when more information is available.

One This Morning viewer tweeted: “You brought me to tears earlier when you announced that you are expectant Grandparents. Couldn’t wish better news.

“You are going to be an amazing granpappy and Ruth an amazing step grandmum. Of course hearty congratulations to your eldest son and his wife on their pregnancy news.”

A second fan said: ” So many congratulations on your great news.. PAPA… it is a wonder that something the size of tuppence happenny, can creep in and steal your heart… Your life is never the same again… Great joy awaits.”
