Who is Scissors on The Masked Dancer?

Scissors is one of the crazy characters competing in the second series of The Masked Dancer.

Scissors is hoping to keep their identity secret for as long as possible – but fans of the show are already convinced they know who the celeb in the costume is.

Several guessed that the performer was Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall, saying many of the clues added up.

The speculation came after the character was seen posing behind a bar saying "I've certainly done my fair share of touring".

Fans quickly took to social media to share their predicitions.

One Masked Dancer fan wrote: "I can see scissors being jade thirwall makes so much sense to me does it for anyone else?

"Talent show, the writing on the mirror, she owns a bar in Newcastle?"

However, not everyone felt the same – with guesses also flooding in for Ashley Roberts from The Pussycat Dolls and Peter Crouch's wife, Abbey Clancy.

But it will be up to the panel of judges to guess who they think it could be.

Judge Jonathan Ross has also guessed that Amanda Holden could be behind the mask.

How does The Masked Dancer work?

The 12 dancers are originally split into two groups of six.

The six dancers are then paired up and after their performance, one is voted safe by the audience with the other landing in the bottom three.

Their dance routines will be coupled with fun VT dropping hints to the masked celeb.

The show will also include clues to the real identity of the performer.

Despite a lot of the hints being pretty vague, after each performance the judges must guess the ID of the dancer – with some being way off the mark.

As the show is pre-recorded the studio audience gets to vote for their favourite, but once it's whittled down to the final two, the judges alone choose who they want to be unmasked.

The characters will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of series one winner, Olympic gymnast Louis Smith.

Judges Oti Mabuse, Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall are joined by Peter Crouch on the judging panel as he replaces Mo Gilligan.

Joel Dommett returns as host.

The second season of The Masked Dancer returned on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

The show will air at 6:30pm on ITV every Saturday night.
