FANS were shocked to learn that Sanditon was renewed two years after being cancelled, but not all of its stars returned.
One of those was the character of Sidney Parker who was portrayed by English actor Theo James.
Who is Sidney Parker on Sanditon?
Sanditon is a television series based on the unfinished Jane Austen manuscript of the same name.
According to online fandoms, Sidney Parker is believed to be a potential protagonist and main love interest in Austen's writing, but his character was not fully developed before the beloved author passed away in 1817.
In the televised adaptation of Sandtion, Parker's character marries the wealthy widow, Eliza Campion – played by Ruth Kearney – as opposed to his true love, Charlotte Heywood – played by Rose Williams.
Ironically, Theo James and Ruth Kearney are also married in real life.

What is Sanditon about?
Charlotte Heywood arrives in the coastal town of Sanditon only to discover the big secrets kept by its inhabitants.
The Parker family holds power as successful entrepreneurs, and Charlotte clashes with the rambunctious Sidney.
Although the two eventually find love in each other, their paths do not remain crossed for long.

Did Sidney Parker die on Sanditon?
Season two of Sanditon premiered on Sunday, March 20, 2022, via PBS.
The first episode opened with news of the death of Sidney Parker.
His character was killed off while visiting the island of Antigua, dying from yellow fever at the age of 32.
Although ITV cancelled the series after its first season, the show was picked up by PBS as part of their collaboration with BritBox.
Theo James announced he would not return to the show after its original cancellation.
"I said the only way [James leaving] is going to work is if we basically take Sidney out of the equation right at the top of Season two," said showrunner Justin Young, per Decider.
"Otherwise, there's no way the audience is going to invest in any other love interest."
New characters introduced in season two include Ben Lloyd-Hughes as Alexander Colbourne, Tom Weston-Jones as Colonel Francis Lennox, and Frank Blake as Captain Declan Fraser.

Who is Theo James?
Born on December 16, 1984, Theo James is an actor mostly known for his role as Tobias "Four" Eaton in the Divergent series film franchise.
James met his future wife, Ruth Kearney, while the two of them were studying at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Aside from his acting career, James performed as the lead vocalist and guitarist in former London-based band, Shere Khan.
