They reported that a number of security measures are being introduced, due to a surge in crime in South Africa, where Winter Love Island will be based.
The Sun reports that a Love Island insider claims: "The aim is to make Ludus as secure as possible, without terrifying the contestants.
"We want them to feel relaxed and feel comfortable during the show."
Measures reported to be introduced include hiring a security team to patrol the villa, night vision CCTV, alarm beams and trained security guards posted on all perimeters inside the property.
They added that the villa will also be protected by high voltage electric gates, with the Love Island insider claiming: "For anyone to reach the villa they would either be spotted or triggered alarms and be intercepted."
The insider also explained that there would be a "hotline" to the local police station, as well armed escorts for the production crew coming in and out of Ludus.
"The security of both the contestants and crew is of our utmost concern and must come first," the insider continued.
"Thankfully the one thing security companies know out here is how to keep people very safe," adding: "They will also be given security briefings on what dangers to look for and what to do in worst-case scenarios."
