Waiting in the wings with only palm leaves to cover her modesty has left Simon Cowell ’s BFF Sinitta feeling left out in the cold but she finally believes her moment as an X Factor judge is upon us.
With Nicole Scherzinger’s seat gone cold, the So Macho singer – who has never got further than a judges’ houses assisting slot – is ready to step up.
Chatting at the West End premiere of the Bat Out Of Hell musical, Sinitta, 54, announced: “Me becoming a judge, I think that’s what’s going to happen next. It’s my time. I’ve heard that there’s a vacancy. As usual I’ve been available for the last 11 years.”
If ITV bosses were looking to save a few quid, Sinitta would be a good punt as she’s so keen she’d probably do it for a few free ridiculous outfits.
Despite falling ratings for the X, Sinitta reckons boss man Simon is unconcerned as winners Rak-Su still achieved a hit winner’s single.
She continued: “He’s optimistic because even though ratings were down the talent was incredible.
“The band that won have had success, which shows it still works.”
The X Factor won’t return to screens until later in the year as usual, leaving Si focused on Britain’s Got Talent. He’s also confident that Declan Donnelly can hold the fort during the live finals while sidekick Ant McPartlin is in rehab.
Sinitta said: “The show will go on. It won’t be the same without Ant but hopefully he’ll be back next year.
“Everybody’s wishing him the best.”
Even a conviction for drink- driving won’t taint Ant’s previously squeaky clean image according to Sinitta.
She added: “We all make mistakes, we just don’t all make them in public. They’ve been the golden boys for so many years.
“If anything I think the public will warm to him even more.
“You see, for all his success and money, he’s still just a boy who wants to be saved like everybody else. He always seemed happy to me.”
What the eye can’t see…
