Yellowstone fans have already been waiting weeks for the fifth season of Taylor Sheridan’s hit Western drama to continue, and a concerning update from the Paramount Network seems to have confirmed they’ll be waiting even longer. After reports Kevin Costner could be leaving the series, his final outing as John Dutton may have been pushed back to much later in the year.
A teaser trailer confirming Yellowstone’s fifth season will continue in the summer has been quietly removed from YouTube.
The trailer began with the tagline “Yellowstone Season 5 Returns This Summer” and was released after the midseason finale on New Year’s Day.
Fans were already disappointed after being subjected to the longest midseason break in the show’s history.
However, it’s now looking likely Paramount won’t be releasing the final six episodes of season five until November, a year after the latest outing premiered.
The teaser trailer is now impossible to find on YouTube unless fans have the original link.
Although the video still exists, it appears the network is no longer actively promoting a summer release for the return of Yellowstone.
This latest worrying update comes after reports lead actor Costner had limited his filming commitments for the second half of season five.
After reducing his time from six weeks to five for the first half of the season, it was reported he had cut this down further to just a single week for the remainder of the season.
It was also reported that fellow Hollywood A-Lister Matthew McConaughey had emerged as the frontrunner to take over once Costner had left.
A spokesperson for Paramount said last month: “We have no news to report.
“Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone, and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come.
“Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built.”

“Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”
However, Costner’s attorney Marty Singer has denied claims his commitments to the series have started to slip.
“The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season five of Yellowstone is an absolute lie,” he said.
“It’s ridiculous – and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second.”
“As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success.”
The rumours have possibly arisen from the fact Costner is currently working on his own ambitious Western project, a four-picture epic entitled Horizon.
Meanwhile, his co-star Cole Hauser has confirmed the cast are hoping to return to set in May in time to finish the final six episodes by the end of the year.
Yellowstone seasons 1-5 are available on the Paramount Network in the USA and Paramount+ in the UK.
