Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly) isn’t exactly in the most ideal of situations heading into season four of Yellowstone on Paramount after she was caught at the centre of an explosion in the third run’s finale. Along with father John (Kevin Costner) and brother Kayce (Luke Grimes), the Dutton family’s future hangs in the balance, although a number of teasers from the new series suggest the likes of Rip (Cole Hauser) and co will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of the attacks. But could the latest promo have all but sealed Beth’s demise?
The theory stems from a key quote loyal rancher and Rip’s righthand man Lloyd (Forrie J Smith) can be heard saying in the latest promo shared to the Yellowstone Instagram page.
The newest trailer opens with a look back at Beth and Rip’s romance, flashing back to the moment Beth asked John if he would give his blessing for the two to wed.
“Give him your hand if you love him,” John said as the promo cuts to another flashback of Rip telling Beth: “Every day with you is a gift.”
Fans are then reminded of the explosion which ripped through Beth’s office in the final moments of season three before new scenes from season four take centre stage in the trailer.
What follows is the Montana Police Department rushing to the scene of the explosion followed by Rip’s voice saying: “Don’t you die on me now.”
Of course, it isn’t revealed who Rip is saying this too but as the promo continues, it suggests it may be to his soul mate Beth.
Rip is then shown in the dead of night alone and deep in thought in one of the ranch’s fields.
At this point, Lloyd’s voice can be heard overhead, saying to his pal: “I’m sorry, Rip.”
Moments later, fans are treated to split-second shots of Rip assaulting numerous unknown enemies as well as a scene of Roarke (Josh Holloway) pacing through the woods.
The promo ends with Rip entering an unknown location with a pistol in hand, warning someone: “Damn you for making me do this.”
While fans will undoubtedly be wondering who it is Rip has tracked down in the final moments of the trailer, it’s Lloyd words which have piqued the interest of many others.
Taking to the comments second on Instagram, user @ohmygoshbeckie3 suggested: “This clip doesn’t bode well for Beth.”

And @raeo7311 agreed: “@ohmygoshbeckie3 I was just thinking the same thing. Especially when you hear Lloyd say ‘I’m sorry Rip’.”
While @hmccauley16 echoed: “@ohmygoshbeckie3 I can see Lloyd having something to do with everything and him apologizing for it.”
However, @marywesleycrotzer suggested: “I’m thinking Lloyd is just saying sorry because Beth is in such bad shape. Until we get to see what happens we are going to go crazy thinking about it!”
And @renata_m65 agreed Lloyd’s word don’t suggest a happy ending for Beth as they weighed in: “@ohmygoshbeckie3 yep I’m thinking the same, I’ll be gutted if she dies.”
Another Instagram user @jjherbs also mentioned: “Lloyd saying Sorry Rip doesn’t sound good.” (Sic)
So could Lloyd’s quote spell bad news for Beth when season four rolls around?
After all, the explosion which ripped through her office would certainly be a tricky one to emerge alive from.
Fans will have to wait until the Yellowstone season four premiere to find out for sure.
Yellowstone season 4 premieres on Sunday, November 7 on Paramount Network in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
