Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) will be back to stalk another unsuspecting victim on the streets of London next year in Netflix’s highly anticipated fourth season of the hit thriller, You. While the series was initially promised to return in February 2023, a mysterious new trailer released on Twitter has caused confusion by suggesting a wildly different release schedule.
Subscribers are concerned Netflix’s hit series You could be released on a weekly basis rather than sticking to the streamer’s tried and tested binge model.
The trailer continues the theme of the fourth season, which finds Joe taking a job as a professor in London.
“Mark your calendar. Professor Jonathan Moore looks forward to seeing you this semester,” the cryptic caption reads.
A short video then proceeds to show a number of dates, starting with November 24 and continuing on a weekly basis until the end of the year.
While the series is still confirmed to return in two parts in February and March, the new announcement convinced some fans Netflix had completely overhauled its release schedule.
Below the trailer, @Pinkieruth exclaimed: “WAIT WHAT????? ARE THE EPISODES COMING OUT EARLIER!?!”
@LadyChips fumed: “Kidding me?! Right @netflix? KIDDING ME? One episode a week.
“Damn….. We’re not in 2005 anymore waiting on TV. ONE F*****G EP PER WEEK. Even Grey’s [Anatomy] gave us two a week. I’m p****d.”
They later asked: “Also, who is gonna watch the episode on Christmas Day? Tell me?!”
To which @agentoftrauma replied: “Right? Also, what’s with the weekly release?? Like they never did this before!”
Glenn Garner wrote: “So Netflix has the audacity to get users hooked on the binge-viewing format… and then just decide it was better the way it worked in the 90s?!”
@badguyy773 replied with a number of Stranger Things characters screaming and pleaded: “DON’T DO WEEKLY.”

And bemused fan @TheTrueCalliope demanded: “But what does it meeeeaaaaaaan???
“I thought it’s meant to come out in February? Am I mixing things up now? HELP!!” (sic)
Thankfully, the show’s official account quickly cleared up the confusion and assured fans You will still be releasing multiple episodes at once.
They later posted: “Class is still in session in 2023. These new dates are your syllabus for season four sneak peeks.”
While new episodes won’t be out until early next year, fans can expect their first look at Joe’s next chapter – and his next victims – to come very soon.
Once the year has come to an end, the first half of the fourth season will be released in February, with more to come just a month later.
Following the death of Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), Joe goes in search of his latest obsession Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle) and somehow ends up in London.
The updated cast also includes Ghost’s Charlotte Ritchie, Euphoria’s Lukas Gage, EastEnders’ Tilly Keeper and Outlander’s Ed Speleers.
You season 4 part 1 will be released on February 10, 2023, on Netflix. Part 2 releases on March 10.
