Ford’s dedication to his job at the Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport branch of the burger chain was highlighted in a viral video.
It showed him being gifted a movie ticket, a bag of candy, a coffee tumbler, lanyard and some pens as a thank-you gift.
In the footage, he graciously said that ‘loyalty pays off.’
However, many social media users were shocked that the company didn’t do more for him.
‘This is all y’all could do for this man?’ one viewer tweeted, while another called Ford’s video ‘depressing’ and ’embarrassing’ for the brand.
Others suggested he deserved an entire franchise or an ‘all expense paid trip.’
It led to his daughter Seryna setting up the GoFundMe page and asking people to donate if they ‘feel like blessing him’.
She said the funds would be used to allow him to ‘visit his grandchildren’ and help with his retirement.
Ford continued to work at the fast-food giant because of the healthcare insurance which covered his four daughters during high school and college.
‘My dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement,’ Seryna said.
Ford shared an update in April to say he was able to visit his grandchildren in Texas thanks to the donations which ‘changed my life forever’.

‘The miracle of generosity of so many people all around the world has allowed me to save for retirement and my children’s and grandchildren’s futures and even to someday soon own my own home dreams really can come true,’ he added.
He previously revealed he planned to work at Burger King for at least three or four more years.
Ford insisted it was hard to never miss a day at work but that he was committed to being the best employee he could be.
‘I was a single father before I remarried, It was tough,’ he said.
‘I had two girls and one on the way at the time, but all I needed was to come home to my daughters calling me daddy. That fueled me. You can handle more than you believe, and I did.’
He had to process the huge donations he has received and said: ‘It was like a beautiful script that nobody could even write because nobody would believe it.
‘It is a wonderful ride that America and the whole world put me on.’
The father-of-four said that he initially had no idea about the GoFundMe, and was overwhelmed by Syrena’s words on the description of the page when he found out about it.

In an Instagram exchange, Spade joked back that Ford should just ‘wait till year 30’ to take any time off
In addition to Spade’s donation, more than 13,500 people came together to raise $400,000 for the viral Burger King employee
‘The letter she wrote to me on the GoFundMe was really all I needed, for her to acknowledge the love she has for her daddy,’ he added.
One of the many donors include comedian Spade, who donated $5,000 and had a private Instagram exchange with the Burger King worker.
‘Keep up the good work. 27 years,’ Spade wrote to Ford.
In response, according to a screenshot of their exchange obtained by TMZ, Ford replied: ‘Holy s**t dude [three shocked face emojis].’
The Burger King employee also expressed he couldn’t ‘believe’ Spade’s kindness and was looking forward to using some of his paid time off.
‘THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! For even watching the video! I love you my brother!!! Much love and God Bless… I think might be able to take a day off…’ he told Spade.
