Abandoned toddler taken to hospital after she’s discovered in a stroller in Los Angeles park – LAPD investigation underway

• Los Angeles Police have confirmed that a black female, two to three-years-old was found alone in her stroller around 3am Tuesday 
• A woman was with the child when cops arrived, but she is not reported to be the mother 
• The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services plan to investigate further

A toddler was found alone in an abandoned stroller early Tuesday morning in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles, California. 

Someone who passed by and saw the unattended toddler called 911 around 3am. The child was in the stroller in the 100 block of Larchmont Boulevard. 

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said that once officers arrived, they confirmed that a two to three-year-old black female all by herself. 

According to KTLA 5 News, there was a woman with the child when authorities arrived, but she was not believed to be her mother. 

The little girl was said to be unharmed and was soon taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services were notified and plan to investigate further. 

No other details about the discovery of the toddler have been released, but there were reactions on social media.

KTLA 5 News posted the story to their Facebook account and commenters weighed in on the mysterious discovery. 

One person said: ‘What is seriously wrong with some people?’

Underneath that another commenter replied: ‘Is that a rhetorical question?’ 

‘How maybe something happened to the mom? Those [sic] maybe she was kidnapped,’ a recent comment read.

In response to that someone else said: ‘My first thoughts exactly!’  

According to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services website: ‘As one of the largest county governed child protective services in the nation, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services is responsible for ensuring the safety of more than 2 million children across 88 diverse cities in Los Angeles County.’ 

Child abandonment laws in the state of California are both a civil and criminal issue. 

If someone in the state is charged with child abandonment, it can be classified as a felony or misdemeanor crime.
