The service suddenly became unavailable to paying customers in the early hours of Thursday morning. Many of the social media outbursts were over Prime Video being down, meaning they were unable to watch their favourite programmes after a long day at work. One angry Tweeter claimed: “There is literally a global crisis going on around the world.”
Another added: “Amazon Prime is down. let the crying begin.”
There were very little responses from Amazon over the situation as further Tweets flooded social media.
One woman Tweeted: “Ahem. AmazonPrime is down. Is this how it ends? Is this the end of the world?”
Some subscribers to the service tried to go straight to the top by confronting Amazon President Jeff Bezos.
One person said: “Excuse me Mr Jeff Bezel! Fix this now!”
Another Tweeted: “Amazon I’m not putting money into the pocket of capitalist overlord Jeff Bezos against my better judgement for prime video to stop working in the middle of my 2am the office binge!”
Many customers were confused over the sudden inability to access their Amazon accounts.
One person tweeted: “What the heck?! In the middle of watching my Prime Video and it shuts down. Now it says I have no account!”
As of yet there have been no signs that the issue has been resolved.
Mr Bezos is worth an estimated $111.2bn (£92.2bn).
