- Barbra Streisand met her ‘teenage crush’ Marlon Brando at a party in 1966
- The womanizer allegedly told Streisand – who was 18 years younger – ‘I’d like to f*** you’
- His third and current wife was in the adjacent room during his vulgar proposition
Barbra Streisand has revealed that Marlon Brando told her, ‘I’d like to f*** you’, while his wife was in the room next door the first time they met.
The star is set to release her memoir My Name Is Barbra in November 2023 and Vanity Fair have spilled some of the book’s shocking revelations.
There is an entire chapter dedicated to the movie star Marlon Brando – called ‘Brando’ – in Streisand’s new memoir. She revealed the details of his evocative statement at a 1966 party and said that after Brando saw her movie Funny Girl he called her up to tell her ‘you were really good, but you run funny’.
Streisand, 81, gained fame in the 1960s and went on to be one of a small group of people to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. After signing with Columbia Records she quickly rose to fame and won a Grammy in 1963 for The Barbra Streisand Album.
Three years later she met her ‘teenage crush’ Marlon Brando at a party and he told her ‘I’d like to f*** you’ while his wife was in the adjoining room, according to Vanity Fair who got a preview of Streisand’s unreleased memoir.
At the time of the party the famous actor Marlon Brando was married to 24-year-old French actress Tarita Teriipaia – his third wife who he eventually divorced.

Despite his vulgar proposition Streisand and Brando went on to be best friends and were pictured with her sitting on his lap in a photo later shared on Instagram by John Travolta
At the time of Brando’s alleged proposition he was married to a French actress who was 18 years younger than him – she was in the adjacent room at the party when he approached Streisand
Vanity Fair called it ‘one of the wilder chapters’ in literature and Streisand said in response: ‘well, he’s Marlon Brando!’
Streisand opened up about her crush on the movie star – who was 18 years older than her – in an interview with W: ‘Since I was 13, Marlon Brando was my favorite. I saw him in Guys and Dolls and that was it.
‘He was my biggest crush. My idol. Somebody who was such a brilliant actor, and so beautiful… Oh my god.’
Streisand revealed to Piers Morgan in 2012 that she and Brando took a road trip to the desert in the 1970s that only lasted a day because she didn’t want to stay overnight with him, according to CNN.
She told Morgan: ‘(Brando) wanted to take me to the desert, to see the wildflowers’ and said that he wanted to ‘sleep over in a ghost town’ but she refused his advances.
The actress and singer said: ‘I was such a nice Jewish girl that I just said, ‘Marlon, I can’t stay overnight with you. I’ll go with you for the day”.
The pair remained friends despite Streisand’s rejections and would talk on the phones ‘for hours and hours’.
Streisand clearly remained close with Brando as she was pictured sitting on his lap at a ‘special party’ for Marlon Brando at Barbra Streisand’s house many years later – John Travolta shared the throwback photo on his Instagram in 2020.

The late Marlon Brando was married three times and had at least 11 children. He was also open about his sexual relationships with men and told a journalist ‘Homosexuality is so much in fashion, it no longer makes news’
Brando had at least 11 children with multiple women and also had sexual relationships with men.
His wife at the time of his provocative interaction with Streisand was his third wife. He divorced his first wife Anna Kashifi in 1959 after two years of marriage and annulled his marriage with Movita Castaneda in 1968 – six years after he had already married Tarita Teriipaia in 1962.
Teriipaia – an actress from Bora Bora – was 18 years younger than Brando and they got married when she was 20. The couple had two children together before divorcing in 1972.
‘Homosexuality is so much in fashion, it no longer makes news. Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences, and I am not ashamed,’ he told a French journalist in 1976.
American screenwriter Truman Capote revealed he asked Marlon about his sexual relationship with a male cast member: ‘He admitted it. He said he went to bed with lots of other men, too, but that he didn’t consider himself a homosexual. He said they were all so attracted to him.
‘I just thought that I was doing them a favor.’
The late Brando, who died in 2004, was notoriously sex-obsessed.
Brando apparently confessed ‘When I awake in the morning, the first thing I think about is, ‘Who am I going to f*** today’? – even if there was a woman sleeping beside him, according to author William J. Mann in The Contender: The Story of Marlon Brando.
