A mini heatwave arrives for Britain later today with top temperatures expected to hit 17 degrees in London. Eastern areas of England will see a fair bit of cloud this morning but this will disperse through the morning. Rain patches in Northern Ireland and West of Scotland from a weather front which will push south leaving behind it sunshine. Cold start to Tuesday but temperatures will rise through the day back to Monday highs of around 15 degrees in some parts of England.
Carol Kirkwood said Monday will be “mainly dry one with sunny spells.”
She added: “A weather front out towards the West and that is producing a bit more cloud across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
“At times it will bring in a little bit of rain to the west of Northern Ireland and also in through the far West of Scotland.”
For eastern parts of England today there is “a fair bit of cloud” and “low cloud mist and fog” that will disperse later in the morning followed by sunshine.

East Anglia could see a “passing shower” this afternoon.
Later this afternoon temperatures are wide-ranging from 17 degrees in London, 15 in Newcastle and 13 in Aberdeen with sunshine in parts of Scotland
But the weather presenter added “it will more likely be about ten degrees” in western areas which will have patches of cloud and rain.
Kirkwood added: “Through this evening and overnight while our weather front slowly moves southwards and eastwards taking its increasingly patchy rain and drizzle with it.”

The presenter added: “For Scotland and Northern Ireland there will be a lot of cloud around, ahead of it there will be some mist and fog particularly down the North Sea coastline.
“There will be some local frost, not widespread, for many other rural areas.”
The weather front which is bringing rain to Scotland and Northern Ireland will bring cloud into Northern England on Tuesday but sunshine and showers will follow.
Cool start to Tuesday but temperatures will rise with 17 degrees in London, 14 in Liverpool, 11 in Belfast and 9 in Aberdeen.

As the country heads into Wednesday that weather front slips south with a band of cloud but behind it is sunshine.
Kirkwood added: “It will feel cooler for all of us during the course of Wednesday.
“High pressure well and truly in charge of this week.”
Temperatures across the UK will be between 9 and 13 degrees.
