The Age asked prominent Victorians to reveal their favourite places and activities of the summer holiday season.
Today’s instalment comes from muesli entrepreneur Carolyn Creswell. Creswell built Carman’s into a global business with $114 million in turnover and more than 150 different products stocked in countries around the world.

First place you take visitors?
Always to the rolling green hills of Gippsland. Beach walks, ocean swims, long lunches, afternoon naps, dinner in our bathers, a lot of Uno and family movies to fall asleep to. Summer happiness!
Secret spot you escape to?
Bena in Gippsland. No one has ever heard of it (shhhh!). Think the epic rolling green hills of Ireland with hardly a house in sight looking out to the ocean but just over an hour from Melbourne.
The best summer food is …
Warm eggs freshly laid, multigrain sourdough bread my beautiful neighbours Matt and Em bake, homegrown tomatoes with fresh basil and anything cooked in our wood-fired oven at night.
I know it’s summer when I smell …
It’s a warm night and the star jasmine sends its gorgeous scent mingled with the citronella candle smoke on our deck at sunset.
My favourite summer song is…
“Throw your arms around me” by Hunters and Collectors. (I feel this song covers all the seasons for the record too).
The worst thing about summer is …
The flies when you live with a lot of cows. I have learnt to embrace fly wire.
Guilty pleasure?
Four thousand books read in a hammock, pretending I can’t hear anyone.
