Her remorse comes after she slammed Melania as an "illegal alien" who "still can't speak English."

Midler tweeted on Wednesday afternoon: "Well, all hell has broken loose because I said Melania 'still can’t speak English' last night.

"I was wrong to make fun of her accent.

"America is made up people who speak with all kinds of accents, and they are all welcomed always."

An hour before her apology, she wrote to Twitter: "Woke up ill from all the snake oil poured down our throats last night at the #RNC. What’s the cure? #VoteBidenHarris2020."

Midler was blasted on social media after her Twitter rant as Melania praised her husband Donald as a "man of action" who is "humbled" by his fans in her unvetted speech.

"#beBest is back! A UGE bore!," Midler tweeted, referring to Melania by her public awareness campaign's name.

"She can speak several words in a few languages. Get that illegal alien off the stage!" Midler added.

The Hocus Pocus actress then slammed Melania for her recent remodel of the White House's Rose Garden.

"Melania took all the color out of the #RoseGarden but Don tried his utmost to bring some back with that greasy bronzer!"

The 74-year-old added in another tweet: "Why are they promoting this awful person, #melania? Was it in her contract?"

"She says it feels like just yesterday they were at their first convention.

"Maybe to you, Mel. For the rest of us every day has been a horrible slog thru the 9th Circle of Hell. #beBust."

Midler then took more hits at Melania's Slovenian roots.

"Oh, God. She still can’t speak English," Midler tweeted.

In another tweet, she said: "I’m surprised Trump wants to destroy the #PostOffice. He got all his wives from it."

Midler also said Midler "lacks warmth so severely" that she "had to turn my AC down."

She then made several comments about the President and First Lady's relationship.

"'I have to remind myself that I am very lucky.' I completely agree!" Midler said, quoting Melania.

"You are one lucky Slovenian! And after all that surgery, you hit a kind of horrible jackpot, chained to an colossal idiot."

As Melania and Donald Trump were seen holding hands exiting the Rose Garden, Midler added: "Please say they are not going to come back. Look, he’s clutching her hand. She’s not going to get away tonight!!

Following her Twitter rant, Midler was branded a "racist" and was blasted herself on social media.

"Oh, God. Bette Midler’s a racist," journalist and TV personality Piers Morgan tweeted.

Another user wrote: "Melania speaks 5 languages fluently .. Bette Midler barely speaks one well, and she’s a racist !"

"Bette Midler is a racist piece of s**t… pass it on," comedian Tim Young tweeted.

Denver talk show host Ross Kaminsky replied to Midler: "How many languages do you speak, Bette? Melania: Slovenian, English, French, Italian, and German."

One user quoted a tweet from Midler and wrote: "It's just xenophobia, plain as day.

"There are legitimate reasons to not like Melania but her English not being to your standards ain't one of them. Please, Bette Midler, won't you recite some verse in Slovene?"

Melania spoke highly of her husband as he watched from the audience on Tuesday.

"No matter the amount of negative or false media headlines or attacks from the other side, Donald Trump has not and will not lose focus on you.

She urged people to "never make assumptions based on the color of one's skin," amid ongoing unrest amid Black Lives Matter demonstrations, and then recounted growing up in Slovenia and moving to the US at age 26.

Melania said becoming a US citizen in 2006 wasone of the "proudest moments" of her life.
