The body of British tourist has been found floating in the sea off the beach in Mallorca.

The 20-year-old man was found just off the beach of Can Picafort, a resort in the northeast, this morning.

A local resident raised the alert after he was spotted floating in the sea near to the Mar y Paz Hotel at around 10.50am.

The Civil Guard, police and medical crews rushed to the scene this morning.

Police crews pulled him out of the water, and medics began treating him but they could not save the man, The Olive Press reported.

He was quickly transferred to the mainland while cardiopulmonary resuscitation continued, but did not respond to the medical intervention,’ The Mirror reported. 

An investigation into his cause of death has been opened by the Civil Guard.
