Boy, 12, and his grandmother are mauled by dog in attack like a ‘horror film’ at Cornish holiday park
- The incident occurred at St Ives Holiday Park on Wednesday 15 February
- Sadly, the 12-year-old sustained injures to his side, and his arm is ‘bandaged up’
A 12-year-old boy and his grandmother were mauled by a dog in an attack that has been likened to a horror film at a Cornish holiday park.
Police are now investigating the incident, which occurred on Wednesday 15 February.
Cheryl May and her grandson Zac were attacked by a dog, which has been described as a British bull terrier, at around 9.10pm last week at St Ives Holiday Park in Cornwall.
Cheryl, who is from Cornwall herself, said she had been enjoying an evening out with her family at the holiday park when the pair were both attacked.
They have now both been left ‘traumatised’ by the incident, as the grandmother adds that she was left seriously injured after being bitten by the dog.

She told CornwallLive that the dog first attacked Zac, before turning on her after it was pulled off him by her daughter, Natalie.
Thankfully, Natalie was able to fight off the animal, despite only being 4ft 10ins tall.
Then having told her daughter to run and take the 12-year-old with her, Cheryl says the dog began attacking her.
However, she managed to fight it off by pushing the beast and hitting ‘the dog with a stick’.
Following the incident, the grandmother added that she was followed into the park’s clubhouse by the dog’s owners, who she claims were filming her.
She said: ‘I’ve been in shock for three days and shaking and crying. It was awful, it was like a horror film. I can’t sleep.
‘I’ve been at the hospital to have a bandage done and I’ve got to go to the fracture clinic.
‘I’ve got a massive bruise on my chest. My arms are full of bites, I’ve got antibiotics to take.’
She added that the 12-year-old sustained injures to his side, and his arm is ‘bandaged up’ due to the bites.
Both Cheryl and Zac are both receiving treatment after going to hospital.
But the grandmother has revealed that she has been left concerned for her daughter and grandson’s mental wellbeing, adding: ‘I want to try and get some help for them. I don’t know if we’ll be able to go out, we’re all just locked in.’
Officers have now confirmed that the incident is now being investigated.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Police were called at about 9.10 pm on Wednesday, February 15, to a holiday park in St Ives to reports of two people having been bitten by a dog. Officers attended.
‘Two people had sustained bite injuries and attended hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing.’
