A four-year-old British boy is in intensive care in Italy after being hit by a horse carriage at a riding school while on holiday with his parents.
The carriage hitched to the horse collided with the young boy at Andalo Riding Centre in Trentino, northern Italy, on Friday.
He was violently thrown to the ground and hit his head, sustaining several injuries.
Emergency services including firefighters, police and paramedics, rushed to the scene.
After initial treatment, the child was taken to by helicopter to Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento before being transferred to the Borgo Trento hospital in Verona, a specialised centre for neurosurgical operations.

The boy remains in intensive care under close observation by doctors.
The riding centre is on the Paganella, a ski resort located between the Dolomites and Lake Garda.
Visitors are offered horse-drawn carriage rides in the snowy season.
