AN ex-reality TV star has reportedly strangled his wife-to-be before dismembering her corpse and storing body parts in the freezer.

The "bridegroom ripper" Petr Begun, 37,has been detained in Kyiv, Ukraine after he allegedly killed his bride-to-be Olha Davydenko, 39.

Police said Begun, a successful lawyer and former murder case investigator, cut up her body and kept the woman's heart and genitals in the freezer while he disposed of the rest.

"The groom-ripper tore out his beloved’s heart, kidneys and female sex organs, which he stored at home, said reports citing regional police chief Andrei Nebytov.

He disposed of the other body parts in landfill sites, over several days, sometimes taking “suspicious packages” out on his bike. 

The victim’s pelvis and part of her spine were found in a suitcase thrown into a pond while her severed hands and feet were in another dumped bag.

He said the woman was initially recognised by her clothing, and later identified by fingerprints.

The alleged wartime murder was described as “a terrible story of deadly love, cynicism, and a desperate attempt to hide the traces of the crime in Kyiv region”.

The pair had been together since just before the war started in February. 

Davydenko moved in with him one week after they met and was “happy”.

Begun was previously a criminal investigator for the Ukrainian state prosecutor's office.

He is now facing charges of murder and illegal storage of ammunition which was found at his village home and can be jailed for up to 15 years. 

Kyiv regional police said: “The man explained that there was a conflict between him and the woman, because of which he strangled her. 

“In order to hide the traces of the crime, he dismembered the body and tried to hide the remains.” 

The 37-year-old had been a participant in a TV reality show about marriage called Blind Wedding and a “motivational coach”.

He posed as a potential husband for a 2019 episode but he met his alleged victim earlier this year.

At the time of the TV show , he said about himself: “I'm cheerful, friendly, happy, active, quick-witted, inventive, with a sense of humour, and an optimist.

“I try to think and create, I'm a quick learner, play sports and try to lead a healthy lifestyle.”

He boasted of being a “reliable, careful” person capable of “arranging an unforgettable romance for my beloved girlfriend”.
