Brit, 32, knocked down and killed while walking in French Alps ski resort

A British man has been knocked down and killed while walking in a ski resort in the French Alps.

The 32-year-old was hit by a car at 4am this morning while walking in Morzine, France.

Emergency services were called to the scene but he sadly died.

Local media outlets reported the man is British but his identity has not been confirmed.

The fatal accident occurred on the D 228 road known as the Route de Bois-Venants.

The driver was reportedly driving home to Thonon-les-Baines and didn’t see the man who was walking on the side of the road, according to LeMessager.fr .

An investigation into the incident has been launched in Montriond, north of Morzine, TheLocal.fr reports.

The ski resort, which is close to the Swiss border in the French Alps, is popular with Brits.

The surrounding area is home to lots of Britons who live there year round.

A spokesperson for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office said: “Our consular staff are in contact with the gendarmerie following the death of a British man in France.”
