BRITS eat around two thirds of their meals ALONE each week, mainly because they are too busy or distracted to find a companion.
A new survey of 2,000 adults ranked work emails and social media as the main two distractions at meal time.
Other major attention-grabbers were games consoles and phone calls.
Almost a third of those asked don't get to sit down with friends and family because schedules don't match up.
A similar number said it was because their nearest and dearest were always too busy.
Despite the seeming lack of ability to eat communally, bang on a third of Brits don't enjoy eating alone.

Indeed, 47 per cent wish they could share food with loved ones more often.
According to the poll, the main attractions of sharing meals included conversation, good company and having a chance to catch up with family.
Combing all of these, 30 per cent said that food brings people together well.
The research also saw that dinner was the most popular meal to share with others.

High-ranking choices in terms of which specific dishes tend to be shared most include Sunday roasts, pizza and Chinese takeaways.
However, the cost of living crisis is reportedly likely to cause more meal-sharing in the coming months.
This is because it can be more cost-effective and those surveyed value good company, especially in challenging times.
Rachel Cranston of Pukka Pies, which commissioned the research, said: "It’s now more important than ever to bring people together, and it’s clear that sharing food does just that.
