A man who won £105million from the EuroMillions worked for free after bagging the huge sum.

Steve Thompson, a builder from West Sussex, initially did not want to give up his job after receiving the life-changing news in November 2019.

Not only that, Steve decided not to charge his customers for the work he was doing on their houses. He said it was so the families could keep the money and use it on their Christmas shopping, reported The Sun.

Steve, who was 42 at the time, was reported to have finished installing a conservatory for a neighbour in Selsey, West Sussex – but refused payment.

The neighbour, who did not want to be named, told The Sun at the time: "He didn't charge. It shows he's a top bloke, a decent man.

"We didn't ask him about the win because he’s probably had enough of talking about it. I think it's quite nice for him to be able to work still because it takes his mind off the pressures of what to do with the money."

At the time humble dad-of-three Steve, married to Slovakian wife Lenka, said the EuroMillions win had made his life an "emotional rollercoaster”.

He said: "It's been very stressful. I'm still not sleeping. It's a lot to take in." He said going back to work part-time was helping him cope.

"I feel normal and want to stay that way. I'm trying to finish some jobs before Christmas. I won't be able to finish them all, but doing what I can. Since then Steve has given up work and moved house but friends claim he is secretly pining for his old life and is missing bantering with his work colleagues while on the job."

He now spends most of his time taking his dog for a walk or spending time with his family at home, a £4.5million estate in Kent.
