The UK’s biggest potato may have been found – and it looks like a hippopotamus.
The once-in-a-lifetime find came at Archie's Fish and Chip Shop in Minster-in-Thanet, Kent near Ramsgate. It was delivered in a bag from a retailer, according to owners Natalia Sidorova, 50, and Alexander Povalyaev, 42.
Employee Roni Gill, 23, said: "We went to cut our chips to fry and this is one of the potatoes that came out of our bags." The Archies team were well within their rights to be surprised with the whopping spud weighing in at over an astonishing two kilograms.

For further scale, it measures at around around 10 by six inches. The root veg is due to be kept by the chippy until tomorrow (October 7) with Archies asking customers to guess the size and weight of it.
Natalia said: "We believe that is the one of the big[gest] potatoes in the UK. We have decided to keep it till Saturday (October 7) and let our customers guess how heavy it is. Then we will clean it and will make chips and also will ask our customers to guess how many portions we will get from it."
The couple hail from Russia and reckon this particular specimen is the largest spud they have ever seen – and they’ve been working in the chippy game for 10 years. There is speculation from Alexander that the massive bit of veg will make around “two medium portions,” although it remains to be seen how far this beast will end up going.
It’s worth noting this means a medium portion from Archies can’t be far off a kilogram per serving if all guesses there are accurate. Peter Glazebrook, a Nottinghamshire vegetable grower, holds the record for having the biggest spud on record with one of his having weighed in at 4.98kg.
