Female thrillseeker sues Walt Disney World for $50,000 claiming she suffered horrific genital injuries and bleeding after 40mph waterslide gave her a WEDGIE

Disney World’s waterslide caused a wedgie so severe that the female victim is suing the corporation for over $50,000, a lawsuit alleges. 

Emma McGuinness, then 30, went down the Humunga Kowabunga waterslide at Disney World in October 2019 and claims hitting a pool of water at the bottom at a speed of around 40mph caused a host of eye-watering wounds. 

The dangerous splash took place at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon waterpark in Orange County, Florida where McGuinness was celebrating her 30th birthday alongside other family members. She decided to take on the ride with her mother and her young daughter. 

The lawsuit states that: ‘The impact of The Slide and her impact into the standing water at the bottom of The Slide caused Ms. McGuinness’ clothing to be painfully forced between her legs and for water to be violently forced inside her.

‘She experienced immediate and severe pain internally and, as she stood up, blood began rushing from between her legs.’

The lawsuit included a catalog picture of a swimsuit similar to the one that McGuinness was wearing for her trip down the slide – which played a key part in her injuries

The lawsuit said that ‘The Slide’ carries specific risks whether riders cross their legs or not that Disney should have known about – but they did not disclose those risks to guests. 

Multiple vloggers have shared videos of their own trips down the risky Humunga Kowabunga waterslide in Florida, although none reported being badly-injured by it. 

The paperwork says that when a rider of ‘The Slide’ reaches the bottom and splashes into the pool of water that waits at the bottom, the force of the water can push loose garments into a person’s anatomy – a ‘wedgie’. 

The case states that a woman’s anatomy makes painful wedgies even more ‘serious’ for them than they are for men.

Exhibit A in the lawsuit filed by the McGuinness’s lawyers showed a catalog picture of a full-coverage one-piece swimsuit similar to the one she wore during the incident that was responsible for the ‘wedgie’.

The injuries that McGuinness sustained by her trip down the waterslide were allegedly so severe that she was taken by ambulance to a local hospital – and then taken to another hospital for ‘for the repair of her gynecologic injuries by a specialist’.

According to the complaint, McGuinness suffered ‘severe and permanent bodily injury including severe vaginal lacerations, a full thickness laceration causing Plaintiff’s bowel to protrude through her abdominal wall, and damage to her internal organs.’

The injuries that McGuinness sustained were allegedly so severe that she was taken by ambulance to two hospitals ‘for the repair of her gynecologic injuries by a specialist’

According to the lawsuit, McGuinness suffered ‘severe and permanent bodily injury including severe vaginal lacerations, a full thickness laceration causing Plaintiff’s bowel to protrude through her abdominal wall, and damage to her internal organs’

McGuinness isn’t the first water park patron to sustain very serious injuries on waterslides. 

A father-of-three was paralyzed on Universal’s Volcano Bay waterslide in July 2019 – the same year as McGuinness’s severe wedgie.

James Bowen filed a lawsuit against the Florida water park after he violently slammed his head in a shallow wading pool on the Punga Racers waterslide.  

The father-of-three said the incident left him paralyzed. He said was left lying face-down in the water until his wife and a Universal employee rescued him, the lawsuit says. 

A little girl suffered from similar injuries to McGuinness at a theme park in Queensland, Australia.  

The little girl from Logan, north of the Gold Coast, lost half a liter of blood and spent four nights in hospital after the incident at the WhiteWater World water park in 2020.

The eight-year-old was riding the slide on her back with her feet downwards and her leg crossed as instructed by the ride attendant, according to the claim.

The claim states that the girl’s legs then became uncrossed ‘due to forces encountered by her body while making the descent’.

‘Due to her legs becoming uncrossed … (the girl) made a forceful impact with the water, resulting in water entering her body at force (and) causing a significant tear or rupture of her vaginal wall and bleeding,’ the claim said.
