Moment cyclist is caught on camera brazenly ignoring Britain’s widest cycling lane as she rides in lane dedicated to other traffic instead

This is the moment a cyclist brazenly ignores one of Britain’s most controversial bike lanes to the ire of motorists.
The female biker pedals on the side of the narrow B-road in Wimborne, Dorset, which has been slimmed down to make room for the 6ft wide cycle lane.
In order to get around her, a van has to pull into the opposite lane.
Cars, lorries, busses and emergency vehicles on the B3073 have been left with narrower 9ft 5in lanes since the cycle way was installed two years ago.
Ollie Frampton, 25, a car salesman who took the photo, claims that he sees cyclists ignoring the lane every day.

Mr Frampton said he has been told by some cyclists that this is because of the quality of the surface.
The cycle way is part of a £120million scheme which aims to make travel more sustainable and reduce congestion across the county.
It is one of four routes being built in Dorset, part-funded by £100million from the government’s Rebuilding Cities programme.
Mr Frampton added: ‘When you think of the amount of time and money spent on the cycle lane, you have to laugh that cyclists are not using it.
‘I see them ignoring it and going in the car lane every day, I think because they say the cycle lane surface is not good enough.
‘I see the funny side but a lot of motorists are really frustrated, and it is a nightmare when there are roadworks.
‘Sometimes ambulances have to use the cycle lanes as there is not enough room to get through.’

One furious local called for fines to be given to cyclists who don’t use the expensive paths
He posted the photo on social media, sparking a heated response from both motorists and cyclists.
Janet Burrow wrote: ‘I was in a line of traffic going into Wimborne slowly moving behind a cyclist in the road alongside a damn 20ft cycling lane.’
Another local called for fines for cyclists who ‘don’t use the expensive paths’.
Rachel Ralph said: ‘Hopefully they bring in a law soon that if a cycle lane is there then it has to be used else receive a fine, cyclists wanted these expensive paths and don’t use them.
‘Money could be well spent elsewhere.’
But another commenter pinned the blame on the local council for not maintaining the lane properly.
Martyn Sheppard wrote: ‘Perhaps if the cycle lanes were swept/cleaned, more cyclists would use them?
‘(This one is) covered in grit-glass and road debris from what I can see in the picture.’
Dorset Council has been approached for comment.
