Dad who ‘killed and dismembered 11-month-old daughter’ caught after manhunt

A dad accused of choking, stabbing and dismembering his 11-month-old daughter has been caught after a two-week manhunt.

Christopher Francisquini, 31, was taken into custody in Waterbury, Connecticut, on Friday (December 2) and charged with murdering Camilla Francisquini.

Francisquini was tracked down by police after a resident spotted him, recognising his face from images law enforcement had shared in an online appeal.

They called 911, noting that Francisquini was still recognisable despite going to lengths to change his appearance.

More than a dozen officers from the Waterbury Police Department descended on him at a bus stop at around 3pm on Friday. He was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves and a black sweatsuit.

Police said it was “a clear example of what can be accomplished when community members work with law enforcement to take a dangerous individual off the street”.

Local cops had been working with the FBI since Camilla's body was found "in a state of dismemberment" at Francisquini's home in the town of Naugatuck on November 18.

Naugatuck Chief of Police Colin McAllister said the baby’s death was unquestionably "an intentional act".

An autopsy ruled Camilla's manner of death to be homicide, and the cause of death to be compression of the neck and stabbing injuries.

Witnesses and surveillance footage quickly led to the baby's father being identified as the prime suspect. He was spotted fleeing the scene in a grey 2006 Chevy Impala.

Police said Francisquini got into an argument with Camilla's mother after the killing, before removing a court-ordered GPS device from his ankle and destroying his phone.

Chief McAllister described the "horrific and gruesome" murder as one of the "most trying" cases he'd ever seen.

Francisquini had an "extensive criminal history" and was on parole for a 2012 domestic assault conviction. He was also out on bail in pending cases for various other crimes.

His bail was set at $5million (£4.08m).
