One more day of plus 90-degree heat — on Thursday — is in the Denver forecast before a cold front brings cooler weather and an increased chance of precipitation to the city.
On Thursday in Denver there’s a 10% chance of late-afternoon showers and thunderstorms, skies will be mostly sunny and the high temperature will hit 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Winds could gust to 17 mph.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has again issued air quality alerts for Denver and along the Front Range on Thursday because of smoke from wildfires burning in the state and elsewhere in the West.
On Friday showers are likely with a possible afternoon thunderstorm, according to the weather service. The high temperature will be 83 degrees and the chance for precipitation is 60%. Winds will gust to 21 mph.
Showers and a chance for afternoon thunderstorms are possible on Saturday and Sunday in Denver. The high temperature will be in the upper 80s each day.
