Dozens of people have been injured in a high speed crash between two rollercoaster trains.

Two people were seriously hurt in the incident at a Legoland amusement park in Germany earlier today.

The collision reportedly happened after one train slammed the breaks on and another hurtled into it.

People had to be rescued from theme park ride by firefighters and then airlifted to hospital, according to reports.

It took place in the station of the Fire Dragon attraction, an amusement park spokesperson told German media.

The theme park is owned by the same chain as operates Legoland in Windsor and is located in the town of Günzburg, about 70 miles from Munich.

It’s the second time an incident involving a German rollercoaster has been in the headlines recently.

Last week, a woman died in an accident at an amusement park in Klotten, an area near the Belgian border.

The 57-year-old woman fell out of the ride as it was moving and she died of her injuries. The cause of the accident has not yet been identified.

Closer to home, a ride at the oldest theme park in the UK collapsed leaving two people injured in a crush yesterday.

Witnesses described seeing the Shipwrecked ride at the Isle of Wight’s Blackgang Chine amusement park suddenly lurch to one side.

Screaming customers were left frantically trying to clamber to safety as shocked onlookers climbed on to help free others who were stuck.

Two men were taken to hospital, one with leg injuries and the other with shoulder pain.
