A drug dealer who made millions through the illegal narcotics trade has to pay just £1 to settle for the proceeds of his crimes.
Mark Quinn has six months to pay off the minuscule sum to cover the £10,158,678 he made during his involvement in the drugs trade. The 59-year-old appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday (Monday, November 27) where it was determined that he only had £1 available in assets. If any further assets are found, prosecutors can return to court.
The short hearing covered how Liverpool native Quinn now has six months to give over the cash. He is serving a seven-year stint in the cage after he was jailed following 2022 proceedings at the High Court in Glasgow.

Former care home Alder Grange in Liverpool had been used as a staging post to package up drugs due to be flogged in Scotland, Judge Lord Beckett heard. Quinn was snared in 2021 in the Netherlands as part of Operation Kapuas after seven years on the run. He would go on to plead guilty in July 2022 for his involvement in amphetamine between August 2013 and April 2014.
Initial stages of Operation Kapuas dredged up £3million in drugs during a 2013 raid of a flat in Paisley, Renfrewshire. Here Quinn’s fingers were found on the packaging, Prosecutor David McLean said.
Then, in 2014, he was spotted driving a Ford Transit being monitored by officers driving from Liverpool to Scotland. He was seen driving to the nursing home and loading items into the back.
When the home was raided, £2million was found inside. Mr McLean said: “A number of items were recovered which indicated the premises were being used for the production and preparation of amphetamine from amphetamine oil.”
“He has no excuses, but if there had not been the financial climate at the time, he would not be in this court,” defence lawyer Gail Gianni said.
