Emotional moment girl is hugged tightly by family after being hostage

‘I dreamed we were coming home, daddy’: Emotional moment four-year-old girl is hugged tightly by her family after 49 days as Gaza hostage… before her tearful father replies: ‘Now the dream came true’

  • Doron Katz Asher and her daughters Raz and Aviv, two, were released by Hamas
  • Raz, four, said to her father Yoni Asher that she dreamt about coming home

This is the emotional moment a father reunited with his wife and two young daughters after they spent 49 days being held captive by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

Mother Doron Katz Asher, 34, and her daughters Raz, four, and Aviv, two, were among 13 Israelis to have been released by Hamas yesterday.

The heart-warming clip showed father Yoni Asher hugging his wife and daughters as he said: ‘My dearest girl, my beautiful girl. Did you miss me? Were you thinking about daddy?’

To which Raz said to her father: ‘I dreamed we were going home’.

He then said to her: ‘Did you dream that you were going home? Now the dream came true, we’re home, that’s it.’

The two girls clung onto toys as they were held tightly in their parents’ arms on the hospital bed, after being checked over by doctors.

This comes as Hamas is set to release 14 more hostages today in exchange for Palestinian prisoners after 24 captives including 13 Israeli women and children were released yesterday.

While father Yoni was happy to have his family back he was still concerned about those who are still being held in Gaza.

‘I am happy I received my family back. But I am not celebrating, I will not celebrate until the last of the hostages returns home,’ he said.

Other freed hostages are then also seen being reunited with and embracing family members.

A heartbreaking video captured the moment a nine-year-old Israeli boy ran into his father arms after being reunited with his family.

Ohad Munder, walked through the children’s hospital when an official points out his father several feet away.

The young boy then waved to his father, before sprinting down the corridor to into his open arms, before he is picked up and hugged, marking the end of his horrific ordeal being held hostage.

Gilat Livni, the centre’s Director of Paediatrics said some hostages had spoken about their ordeal.

‘They shared experiences, we were up with them until late at might and it was interesting, upsetting and moving,’ said Livni.

Doctors have conducted preliminary examinations on the patients and are all in a good physical condition, a statement said.

Israeli prison authorities said they were preparing to release an additional 42 Palestinian detainees today, in line with the terms of the Qatari brokered accord agreed last week.

Under the truce – the first break in the seven-week war – 50 women and children held by Hamas are to be released in stages over four days in return for 150 Palestinian women and children who are among thousands of detainees in Israeli jails.

Hamas freed a total of 24 hostages on Friday – 13 Israelis, 10 Thai farm workers and a Filipino – and Israel later released 39 Palestinian women and teenagers from detention.
