Epsom Ladies Day punters in high spirits after day of Pimms in the sunshine

As the day wore on and the drinks were downed the bars around the course were still doing brisk business as revellers kick-started their weekend.

Revellers mingled with a smattering of celebrities, including Vogue Williams and Susanna Reid and many seemed intent on partying the day away.

While the event might have started off in elegant style with both men and women turning out in their top-quality clobber things started to slide as the day wore on.

Normally hats are a must for the fashionable folk hoping to make a statement with their outfit, but some went the extra mile and brought in a blow up doll.

Hen dos and celebs bringing their outfit A-game sauntered through the gates to get the day off with a bang.

Women in shades and summer dresses wore intricate and brightly coloured fascinators to complete their look.

Famous faces joined those ready for a Friday of gambling and boozing in the warm weather.

However, there was an announcement bars would have to close after the Visa payment network went down across Europe.

Kate Middleton's brother, James, smiled with Spencer Matthews – who's brother is married to Mr Middleton's sister, Pippa – for a sunny day out.

Spencer's pregnant fiancee Vogue Williams looked stunning in a bright pink gown and a striking headpiece.

Olivia Attwood also stunned in blue, while Made In Chelsea stars Binky Felstead and Georgia Toffolo added some high class glam to the day.

Dozens of racegoers are battling it out for the annual style award competition.

The lucky winner in the overall women's category will take home £5,000.

With a lot at stake the women arriving at the racecourse today went to plenty of effort to try and come away with the top prize.

Hats of all shapes and sizes have made an appearance, with all ages joining in the fashion fun.

One woman wore a giant butterfly hat, while another caught the eye with an oversized hat covered in flowers.

As the day of racing kicked off the crowds looked elegant and well prepped for the warm but rainy weather the country has faced this week.

In addition to a pair of sunglasses, many of the racegoers carried smart jackets – just incase the unpredictable British weather turned to rain.
