Con Ed’s online map showing power outages is down as the utility struggles to restore electricity to thousands of customers left in the dark after days of scorching heat and torrential flooding.
“Our outage map is down temporarily. We’ll post updated information shortly. We have approximately 3,500 customers out from the heat and last night’s storm,” a message at the top of the utility’s website reads.
The map, which was last updated at 8:49 a.m., says there are more than 6,300 customers lacking juice, mainly in Queens and Brooklyn.
More than 30,000 people had to sweat it out Sunday night when they lost power amid the tail end of the weekend’s sweltering heat wave. The city braced for more losses as severe thunderstorms rolled through Monday night.
Reps at the utility were not immediately available to provide more detail on the outages or why the map is not working.
