Ex-Scientologist claims Kutcher 'knows the kind of guy Masterson was'

Ex-Scientologist claims that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis did not know their letters supporting Danny Masterson would be made public – and says the actor ‘knows very well the kind of guy that he was’

A former Scientologist has claimed that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis did not know their letters supporting Danny Masterson would be made public – and that Kutcher ‘knows very well the kind of guy that he was.’

Aaron Smith-Levin, who was raised in the Church of Scientology, said that he speaks to Masterson’s rape victims daily. The actor was found guilty of raping two women in the 2000s and given a 30 years to life sentence.

He told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo that Ashton Kutcher knew ‘very well’ the type of person convicted rapist Masterson was when he wrote a character reference for his That ’70s Show co-star.

Mila and her husband Ashton called their friend Danny an ‘extraordinarily honest’ person who has a ‘tremendous positive influence’ on people around him.

But Kutcher’s hands are also ‘filthy dirty,’ Smith-Levin claims.

Disgraced: Ashton and Mila wrote letters to the judge of Danny Masterson’s case vouching for his character, igniting backlash from fans

Smith-Levin said: ‘I think when Ashton says it was meant for the judge to read, what that really means is we didn’t think anybody would see these letters. And if you actually read the letters, it doesn’t just say, oh, you know, think of his poor daughter, you know, his daughter, shouldn’t grow up without a father for more than 15 years.

‘The letters went so far as to say Danny Masterson is essentially the kindest, gentlest, most gracious person I’ve ever known. I’ve never known him to be anything other than a wonderful person.

‘And it’s just not true. Ashton’s hands are pretty filthy dirty in his complicity with some of the behavior that Danny Masterson has exhibited over the last 30 years, Danny Masterson was one of his closest friends.

‘Ashton Kutcher knows very well, the kind of guy that Danny Masterson was. I mean, if you read the letters, it’s shocking.’

Speaking about Kunis’ involvement, he said: ‘I think Mila Kunis is someone who herself was abused from a young age.

‘She was 14 years old when she started acting on that show, Danny was 22 or 23, Ashton Kutcher was 19.

‘Some of the things that have come out on social media in the last couple of days is some extremely inappropriate sexual behavior between the group mostly involving Mila, so it’s hard for me to condemn or blame Mila too much, honestly.

‘But it’s very easy to blame, Ashton.’

Aaron Smith-Levin added: ‘One of the things that’s been thoroughly documented in this in this case, is that as a Scientologist drugging and violently raping other members is not enough to get you expelled, but telling the authorities that you were raped by a Scientologist is enough to get you expelled.’

Masterson was handed a 30 years to life sentence earlier this week after a jury found him guilty of raping two women in the early 2000s

In the short video that husband and wife Ashton, 45, and Mila, 40, posted following the outrage, he said: ‘We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson.

‘We support victims,’ Mila added. ‘We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future.’

Ashton continued: ‘A couple months ago, Danny’s family reached out to us and they asked us to write character letters to represent the person that we knew for 25 years so that the judge could take that into full consideration relative to the sentencing.’

Mila went on to say: ‘The letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling.’

‘They were intended for the judge to read. And not to undermine the testimonies of the victims or re-traumatize them in any way.

‘We would never want to do that. And we are sorry if that has taken place,’ Ashton emphasized.

‘Our heart goes out to every single person that has ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse or rape,’ Mila said to conclude their statement.

Mila Kunis and Danny Masterson were co-stars and on-screen lovers for a period of time

Masterson was handed a 30 years to life sentence last week after a jury found him guilty of raping two women in the early 2000s.

Since the actors’ letters were released, fans have reacted with outrage online.

One former supporter wrote on a recent Instagram post of Kutcher’s, ‘I’m not a fan of cancel culture, but I make an exception for you two.’

Someone else added, ‘Hard f*****g pass on you two. How the mighty have fallen.’

The couple supported their former That 70s Show castmate by making individual submissions to the court, despite him already being convicted for raping two women.

In the letters obtained by DailyMail.com, both Kunis and Kutcher – who is credited as a co-founder and board chair of a non-profit purported to help fight child sex exploitation – spoke highly of Masterson, claiming he always ‘treated people with decency, equality, and generosity.’

In his letter to the judge, Kutcher wrote: ‘He’s an extraordinarily honest and intentional human being.

‘Over our 25-year relationship I don’t recall him ever lying to me. He’s taught me about being direct and confronting issues in life and relationships head-on, resolving them, and moving forward.

‘Danny is a person that is consistently there for you when you need him.

‘Not only is he a good friend to me I’ve witnessed him be a good friend to others and the kind of brother others would be lucky to have.’

Kunis, who has been married to Kutcher for eight years, said she ‘wholeheartedly’ vouched for Masterson’s ‘exceptional character’ and the ‘tremendous positive influence’ he has on those around him, including her.

Kunis said: ‘Danny Masterson’s warmth, humor, and positive outlook on life have been a driving force in shaping my character and the way I approach life’s challenges.

She went to assert that Masterson is an ‘outstanding role model’ and celebrated his strength to stay away from drugs.

‘His dedication to avoiding all substances has inspired not only me but also countless others in our circle,’ Kunis wrote.

‘Danny’s steadfastness in promoting a drug-free lifestyle has been a guiding light in my journey through the entertainment world and has helped me prioritize my well-being and focus on making responsible choices.’

She continued: ‘His unwavering commitment to being an exceptional older brother figure to me has had a transformative impact on my life, instilling in me a sense of self-belief and encouraging me to aim for greatness, but all while maintaining a sense of humility.’

‘His dedication to leading a drug-free life and the genuine care he extends to others make him an outstanding role model and friend.’
