Two people have been killed after cold conditions left the UK in turmoil.

The men, both believed to have been homeless, were discovered dead after freezing conditions gripped the country over the weekend. Police were first called to Bloom Street in central Manchester after receiving reports of concerns about the welfare of a man found in a shop doorway.

Despite paramedics and cops rushing to the scene, the man was declared dead at the scene. Another man is believed to have frozen to death in his car in Nottingham on Friday (December 1).

The icy conditions continued for many over the weekend with today (Monday, December 4) dubbed "ice rink Monday" after snow froze and became slippery overnight, the Daily Star previously reported. Coining the term, Simon Williams – spokesperson for roadside assistance company RAC Breakdown – added the weather was most treacherous in the north of the country.

"We're expecting some very treacherous icy conditions in northern parts, so those who have to drive should exercise great caution," he said.

There's more bad weather to come, too. The Met Office has predicted more snow later this week as a weather front sweeps across much of the country on Wednesday (December 6), bringing with it snow and hail.

The forecaster has also issued several yellow weather warnings for this week. More than two inches of rainfall could be expected in the UK tomorrow threatening to bring chaos, the Daily Star previously reported.

The weather service said of Tuesday's warning: "Heavy rain likely to cause some flooding and disruption to travel." Members of the public were told to brace themselves as journey times on public transport are set to be extended.

The warning continued: "Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible." It also noted "flooding on roads" may make "journey times longer".
