Giant rat ‘the size of customer’s foot’ in McDonald’s leaves diners screaming

McDonald's customers were not loving it when a giant rat the size of their foot was found crawling through the restaurant.

Diners screamed as they saw the massive creature at the Notting Hill, London eatery, with the stunned customers trying to evade the unexpected vermin.

Luke Scott, 48, recalled hearing a terrifying scream when he headed to the McDonald's, craving a milkshake.

Though the machine was broken and Mr Scott was heading back to the entrance, a blood-curdling shout stopped him in his tracks, and soon he found himself looking at a monster rat the size of someone's foot, he claims.

He said: "I was about to turn and leave, and then somebody shouted loudly. I thought it might be a robbery. I looked around and a couple of people were jumping up and then somebody shouted 'rat, rat'.

"I just saw it run across the floor. I felt like people wouldn't believe it unless they saw it, so I started filming. It ran towards me, but with other people in the way. It stopped and got caught in someone's bag and feet and then they jumped out the way."

Some were not as concerned about the giant rat, as one woman was "sat there eating her meal and the rat was sat at her feet trying to climb up her chair," according to Luke.

Staff members declared an evacuation of the store, asking all customers to leave the premises.

Luke alleges the rat was "unafraid" of the panic it caused, but was a massive beast whose presence at the fast food chain has put him off eating there.

He said: "The rat seemed fairly unafraid by the commotion. Everyone got their phones out and started crowding around. It seemed fairly relaxed; it wasn't manic. It seemed quite confident.

"Regardless of the tail, the body of the rodent was huge. It was about the size of my foot. I've seen rodents in London and sometimes I think, 'is it a mouse or is it a rat?', but there's no doubt this was a rat. It was big."

Although initially craving a milkshake, Luke, who is "not a big goer" of the restaurant, says the incident has "put me off going to McDonald's."
