Girl, nine, dies after being knocked down by a tractor while riding her bike near her home

A nine-year-old girl tragically died after being knocked down by a tractor while riding her bike.
Naomi Sarah Ferrans was on her bike in Castle Place in her hometown of New Cumnock, East Ayrshire, Scotland, when she was struck by a tractor towing a trailer.
The crash happened at about 12.35pm on Monday.
Police Scotland said the emergency services attended and Naomi was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for more than seven hours for investigations.

Dozens of tributes have now been left online for the youngster along with messages of support for her devastated family and friends.
One said: ‘I’m absolutely heartbroken, totally devastated.
‘I can’t begin to imagine how you all as a family are feeling right now, Naomi was one of a kind, anyone who knew her knows of her little cheeky personality, no matter where she was she brought smiles to people’s faces.
‘May you rest in peace little angel, sending you all big hugs and my deepest sympathy.’
Another wrote: ‘No words. My heart breaks for you. Thinking of you all at this terrible time.’
A third added: ‘The wee soul. My heart’s absolutely breaking for you all.’
Castle Place in New Cumnock was closed while officers carried out investigations into the crash and reopened at 8pm on Monday.

Police have now appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward as they continue their probe into the tragedy.
Inspector Craig Beaver of Ayrshires Road Policing Unit said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Naomi at this difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected.
‘Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.
‘I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.’
