Graham Norton's X-rated joke at the royal family's expense

Graham Norton jokes that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘have ruined Charles and Camilla’s Netflix and chill night’

  • Graham Norton kicked off talk show on Friday with an X-rated joke about royals
  • He said: ‘Especially big welcome to viewers who cancelled Netflix subscription’
  • He also noted the special had ruined Camilla and Charles’ Netflix and chill night
  • ‘Netflix and chill’ is often used to describe people having casual sex

Graham Norton kicked off his talk show on Friday with an X-rated joke about Harry and Meghan’s documentary ‘ruining Charles and Camilla’s Netflix and chill night’.

The comedian, 59, offered a warm welcome to new viewers tuning into his BBC programme a day after Netflix aired the first three episodes of the Sussexes ‘global event’.

He said: ‘An especially big welcome to any new viewers who are watching us after cancelling their Netflix subscription.’

The screen cut to an image of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla sitting formally on two ends of a couch.

In the picture, Camilla looks stonily ahead while the King appears sheepish as he looks in the opposite direction.

Norton says: ‘Not so keen now. It’s ruined their Netflix and chill night.’

The phrase ‘Netflix and chill’ is widely used to reference casual sex.

Harry and Meghan’s £100million documentary produced far less bombshells than many royal watchers expected, instead focusing on their own love story with behind-the-scenes pictures and stories from the early days of their courtship.

But insiders say there was an insidious and underhanded attempt to undermine the palace.

The documentary was dubbed a ‘circus’ by Palace sources, who also said the King and his heir are unified in maintaining a ‘dignified silence’.

Others say they would be willing to issue a statement or corrections if the second part, which will air next Thursday, requires them to do so.

King Charles and Prince William, along with other senior royals, are expected to carry on ‘business as usual’.

One insider told the Mirror: ‘As far as everyone is concerned it’s business as usual and there is no desire to engage in a tit-for-tat war of words.

‘There’s certainly nothing in the first half worth engaging with and there’s nothing new about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex talking in public about their time in the royal family.

‘A dignified silence is the order of the day as the focus is entirely on getting on with the job.’

Harry has accused the royals of having a ‘huge level of unconscious bias’ and colluding with a media that wanted to ‘destroy’ Meghan, as well as slighting his father and brother about their choices of bride.

Harry said his decision to marry Meghan set him apart from his family because it was ‘from his heart’ and not because she ‘would fit the mould’

Netflix aired the first three episodes of the Sussexes ‘global event’ on Thursday

He said his decision to marry Meghan set him apart from his family because it was ‘from his heart’ and not because she ‘would fit the mould’.

‘I think for so many people in the family, especially obviously the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mould as opposed to somebody who you perhaps are destined to be with.

‘The difference between making decisions with your head, or your heart. And my mum certainly made most of her decisions – if not all of them – from her heart. And I am my mother’s son.’

The comments have been perceived as a slight against his brother, while others say it’s clearly an observation on his father’s unhappy marriage to Diana before he went on to marry Camilla, who is now Queen Consort.
