Groom is killed by LIGHTNING strike while posing for engagement photoshoot with fiancée

• The tragedy occurred on Wednesday at China’s Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
• The man who was struck by lightning was named as Ruan by local media
• He was pronounced dead at Spruce Meadow when emergency services arrived 

A groom was killed by a lightning strike as he was posing for engagement photos with his fiancée in a popular tourist spot in China.

The horrific incident occurred on Wednesday 24 August at China’s Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the Yunnan province.

The man, who was named as Ruan by Chinese media, died instantly after being hit by a bolt of lightning while photographers were taking pictures of him and his partner at Spruce Meadow. 

Before the lightning struck Chinese authorities issued a yellow weather warning, the third highest under the country’s weather system.

Jade Dragon Mountain (pictured above) is a popular tourist spot which is renowned for its beautiful scenery 

The couple decided to go ahead with the planned photoshoot despite the warning.   

Emergency services rushed to the scene and could be pictured carrying the man in torrential rain.   

The Chinese Government was investigating whether air pollution affected whether people were struck in the last few years.

A 2017 report found that strikes kill or injure almost 4,000 people in China per year.

The shocking news also comes after a British woman was struck by lightning six days ago in Croatia.

MailOnline broke the story that a  48-year-old woman was in critical condition with her doctor stating that her life was ‘in danger’.
