THIS is the horror moment a British woman was blasted by a jet engine while watching planes take off on a Greek island.

The incident happened in Skiathos, Greece on Tuesday, with the 61-year-old being left with serious head injuries.

Dramatic footage shared by local outlet Skiathoslife shows the Brit standing on the coastal road directly with the turbines of the aircraft.

She can be seen lifting her arms for a few moments and then being ejected into the sea.

The woman was later taken to Volos hospital.

In the clip, another woman can be seen dropping to the ground but she did not suffer any injuries.

The airport is owned by Fraport, which said in a statement: "We would like to inform you that Skiathos Airport "Alexandros Papadiamantis" is an international airport of European standards, certified according to the current legislation.

"Regarding the incident that took place on 07/05/2022 concerning the injury of a 61-year-old British woman who was filming aircraft take-offs from Skiathos Airport, we wish to clarify that this incident took place outside the premises of the airport.

"We wish to emphasize that the airport operator has taken all necessary security and safety measures within the concession premises, and therefore also the airport, and anything that takes place outside of these boundaries does not fall within its responsibility.

" In any case, the safe and smooth operation of the airport and the safety of its passengers is always the company's first priority."

This is the second incident in a few weeks after last month a 79-year-old man who was passing by the road next to the airport was blasted 32ft through the air.

Hundreds of tourists flock to Skiathos Airport to experience the blast from jet turbines as planes fly just a few feet above their heads.

Back in 2018, a Brit schoolboy was injured after he was blasted by a jet engine.

The 12-year-old was standing next to a fence at Skiathos Airport, in a bid to get a close view of the plane.
