What is Crystal Pepsi?

Pepsi Cola created the drink in the year 1992 and marketed it as a "clear cola" according to Thrillist.

The company marketed the drink as a "pure" and "natural" spin-off of classic Pepsi.

David Novak, the former Pepsi marketing executive is credited as the person who created the soft drink.

"It could have been more than just a novelty,” saidNovak.

"It was probably the best idea I’ve ever had – and the most poorly executed."

When did Pepsi stop selling Crystal Pepsi?

Less than a year after its official launch the company discontinued Crystal Pepsi in 1994.

"I was disappointed that it wasn’t more enduring,” Novak said to Thrillist.

"If we had gotten the flavor notes to taste more like [original] Pepsi Cola, it could have been more than just a novelty."

TIME Magazine listed the soda on their list of "10 worst Worst Product Fails of All Time" in 2014.
