COPS are hunting a paedophile suspected of raping and murdering his teenage stepdaughter while on parole for sex crimes.
The body of Jordana Tamires Christ Watthier, 13, was found just hours after she vanished from her home in Bom Principio, Brazil, on Sunday.
Cops said the girl's stepfather, 39-year-old Elias dos Santos Silvestre, took the teenager to a wooded area near a motorway at dawn before the rest of the family woke up.
The marks left on the teen's body, which was reportedly found by firefighters, led police to believe the suspect raped the youngster and strangled her to death.
Detectives also found an audio message sent by the suspect to a family member in which he confessed he had "done something foolish".
Cops said the suspect, who worked as a bricklayer, has a criminal record for three other sex crimes – two involving minors – and a robbery.
He had been sentenced to 12 years in prison and was on parole when the teenager was killed.
Officers are now hunting Silvestre on suspicion of the brutal murder and rape of Jordana.
Cops found the suspect's abandoned car with his car keys and mobile phone in Montenegro and believe he may have fled by bus.
Jordana, who loved singing, studying and dreamed of becoming an artist, was buried on Tuesday in the municipality of Tres Passos, where her biological dad still lives.
The youngster lived in a quiet street of about 40 houses with her mum, older brother and younger sister, according to local news site GZH.
Neighbours described Jordana as "a very calm and dedicated girl" and said her murder has left the community "disgusted".
