Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding after-party

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception guests were reportedly treated to "ginger" jokes about the groom and a surprise performance by James Corden dressed as Henry VIII.

Corden came out in full Tudor dress before 200 guests partied the night away during the exclusive bash at Frogmore House near Windsor Castle.

The guest list was filled with celebrities, including actor Idris Elba, who is said to have blasted "banging nightclub music" at midnight.

New details about the black-tie reception emerged in the Sunday Times, which reported that the newlyweds gave emotional speeches and Harry was the butt of playful jabs.

Guests were told to hand over their mobile phones to protect everyone’s privacy during the bash celebrating Harry and Meghan’s wedding earlier on May 19.

They sipped Champagne and peach bellini cocktails as things got underway in a grand marquee a the royal retreat.

It was claimed Oscar winner George Clooney told a fellow guest he was having a good time because Harry and Meghan "actually seem to be in love", adding: "I go to all these celebrity weddings and nobody seems to be in love at all."

During the speeches Harry, 33, was teased by his Ludgrove School friend Charlie van Straubenzee, who mocked the royal’s red hair.

Van Straubenzee, 30, called Harry "our strawberry blond prince", adding: "Harry’s a ginger. He was in denial for years, when he was young and used to hate other gingers."

He also told how he was homesick after arriving at the Berkshire school aged eight, and Harry, his dormitory monitor, nicked his teddy bear and tossed it onto a roof, the Sunday Times reported.

Van Straubenzee joked that Harry has a habit of falling off polo horses be he always plays "hungover".

But he also praised the Duke of Sussex for how he had coped following the tragic death of his mother Princess Diana when he was just 12-years-old, saying she would be happy he has found love.

Meghan, 36, paid tribute to her husband and thanked the Queen and Prince Charles as she became the first royal bride to give a speech at her wedding.

Harry thanked his father, who hosted the reception and walked Meghan down the aisle, and his mother-in-law Doria Ragland, while also paying tribute to the "simply stunning" Duchess of Sussex.

He then urged guests to have a "serious party".

Ms Ragland, a social worker who lives in Los Angeles, reportedly told a guest she wouldn’t be staying long in the UK, adding: "I have to get back home to my job and my dogs."

After the speeches, Corden emerged dressed as Henry VIII and sang a song he had written about the newlyweds.

He is said to have told his audience: "Your royal highnesses, ladies and gentlemen, I had no idea what to wear to a royal wedding so I looked it up in the royal etiquette manual and found this outfit.

"I hope I’ve come in the right gear."

Guests were reportedly served "lethal" cocktails during the party which carried on into the early hours, with bacon sandwiches and mini burgers among the late night snacks.
