Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is suing Placebo lead singer Brian Molko after he called her a ‘piece of s**t, fascist, racist’ at a concert last month.
The frontman, 50, was performing with the British band at the Sonic Park festival in Stupinigi outside Turin, in Italy, on July 11 when he made the remarks about the far-right leader in front of around 5,000 fans.
Videos from the event posted online showed Molko yelling in Italian: ‘Giorgia Meloni, piece of s**t, fascist, racist, f**k you’.
Meloni said she intends to take legal action against the singer for his outburst, according to Italian news reports.
Molko was already being investigated by Italian prosecutors for ‘contempt of the institutions’ after the incident was reported by local authorities.

Placebo was formed in London in 1994 by Molko and guitarist Stefan Olsdal and has a large LGBT following and endorsed the legalising of gay marriage in the UK in 2013.
Molko said in an interview with Gigwise at the time: ‘It’s about time really. I hope to see a wave sweeping across the globe.
‘I’m surprised that A. it has taken so long and B. there still seems to be such opposition to gay marriage.’
‘If gay people are crazy enough to want to get married, it should be allowed.’
Meanwhile, Meloni, who has been outspoken in her campaign against migrants, the EU, abortion and the LGBT community, has been criticised as a leader of a party with neo-fascist roots and an heir to Benito Mussolini.
The Brothers of Italy leader won the largest vote share in Italy’s elections last year and made history as the country’s first ever female leader.
Under Italy’s criminal code anyone who ‘publicly defames the Republic’ including the government, parliament, the courts and the army, could face a fine of up to €5,000 (£4,300).
