Jacksonville hostage situation: People held captive at Serenity Spa as two snipers wait outside after 3 hour standoff

TWO snipers were seen waiting outside of a spa as a person held people hostage inside.

Police confirmed that SWAT officers were called to the area just before noon on Thursday afternoon.

Officials told a local reporter that people were being held inside of the Serenity Spa in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sources told the journalist that at least one person has been released.

The hostage situation reportedly appeared to be over just after 3pm.

Dozens of patrol officers were at the scene alongside the FBI and Fire Rescue personnel. A police helicopter was also in the air.

Ben Kingsbury, the owner of local business Gotham City Limit told News4Jax that there were more than a dozen officers in armored vests and a sniper lying down at the scene.

"We were not aware of it until it had all started and the cops started blocking the street off," Kingsbury told the outlet.

He added that a police officer told them that they would be systematically evacuating businesses on the block.
