It features seven of the monarch and Duke of Edinburgh's great-grandchildren gathered around the couple.

The picture was shared on the official Royal Family Twitter account with the caption: "The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh surrounded by seven of their great-grandchildren at Balmoral Castle in 2018."

And the copyright was attributed to the Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince George is stood on the left next to the Queen with baby Prince Louis on her lap.

Savannah Phillips is behind Princess Charlotte, who is sat next to the Duke of Edinburgh.

On his right is Isla Phillips holding Lena Tindall, with Mia Tindall on the far right.

The Queen and Philip's eighth great-grandchild – Meghan and Harry's son Archie – is missing from the portrait as it was taken before he was born.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate shared an image of them with the Queen and Philip, who died aged 99 on Friday.

The photo, taken at Balmoral in 2015, shows the Duke of Cambridge holding his son George's hand, while the duchess holds a baby Charlotte.

A message on the Kensington Royal Twitter account read: "Today we share, along with members of The Royal Family, photographs of The Duke of Edinburgh, remembering him as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather."

Charles and Camilla posted two further pictures in memory of Philip.

Their images show the duke and a young Charles on horseback playing polo, and Philip stood between the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

The touching photos were shared just days before Philip's funeral, which takes place on Saturday afternoon.

And they follow several emotional tributes to the Duke of Edinburgh following his death.

Earlier today, Princess Eugenie posted a heartfelt tribute to her grandfather on Instagram.

Sharing a picture of her and sister Beatrice with the duke, she said he would be "so touched by all the tributes that have been shared with me the past few days".

Eugenie, who named her first child August Philip Hawke Brooksbank in a touching nod to her grandad, also said: "Thank you for your dedication and love for us all and especially Granny, who we will look after for you."

Prince Charles yesterday shared a moving one-minute tribute to his "dear papa".

The short video featured early photos of the father and son and also honoured his 70-plus years of service to the Queen.

Prince Harry also released a poignant message remembering his grandad as "master of the barbecue and legend of banter".

He said Philip was "cheeky 'til the end" and "authentically himself" throughout his more than 70 years of service to the nation.

And he thanked the dedicated royal for being a "rock" to his grandmother the Queen.

While Prince William hailed "extraordinary" Philip – saying his children will miss their "mischievous" great-grandfather.

He added: "I know he would want us to get on with the job."
