Man, 25, charged after woman in her 20s found dead in grassland behind houses in St Neots as eyewitnesses say they've 'never heard noises like it'

Locals reported hearing a hysterical man near the scene in St Neots, Cambridge after the woman was found in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A resident told Cambridgeshire Live: "This guy came down from Loves Way past here and was quite distraught. I would even say he was hysterical.

"Then the first girl along with another came back this way crying their eyes out. I’ve never heard a bloke make a noise like it. It was awful. I didn’t come out of my house because you never know do you?"

Another resident reported that they heard screams, claiming the man was saying "there's a dead body".

Images from the scene show police have cordoned off the grasslands as they investigate.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
