Meghan Markle's half brother has slammed the Sussexes, urging Prince Harry and Meghan to "stay out of politics".

Thomas Markle Jr, 56, made the comments when speaking to GB News' Dan Wooton.

He also blasted Meghan for not reaching out after their father, Thomas Markle Sr, suffered a stroke in May and lost his speech.

Thomas Jr was particularly critical of Harry's speech at the United Nations to mark Nelson Mandela Day last month.

It saw the Duke of Sussex discuss an array of topics including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the overturning of Roe v Wade and climate change.

Thomas Jr said: "You're going to a memorial for Mandela at the UN building which is an open invitation to anybody in the general public and then you start talking about world peace and politics which has nothing to do with anything there.

"The Sussexes need to stick to rescuing chickens in Montecito and stay out of politics."

Opening up about his father's condition, he said Thomas Sr, 77, was recovering well with hopes that his speech may return.

However, when asked whether Meghan had been in touch he claimed "not at all, nothing at all. Absolute zero".

He continued: "What's to be expected at this point? She didn't call for the first heart attack or the stroke – why would she call now?

"Obviously they're just doing other things, other things that they deem necessarily more important than their father.

"It's a mystery. It does bother him continuously, but he gets through it."

Thomas Sr also appeared on GB News in what was his first public appearance since the stroke.

He was seen holding up a sign that read: "Hi Dan, Thank you and the British people for the best wishes and good will."

Thomas Sr had planned to return to the UK in June for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, but the stroke on May 23 saw him hospitalised for five days and he didn't make the trip.
